This page is here as a place holder. I have a lot of
information to add about this year.
This was the first championship team in Garity history so
team picture and comments to follow.
Head Coach: Jim Dolan, Assistants: Gene Grandinetti* ,
Torchy Smith* , Dom Affatato* , Mike Stackpole
Record: The team won 10 regular season games and two
playoffs for a record of 12 and 0.
Regular season game versus the Woodside
Chiefs.
I saw part of the regular season game against the Woodside
chiefs and Garity was in a battle. In the first half I
believe the Chiefs had returned a punt to score first. But
as I was getting ready to leave (I was playing at victory
field that day with Lynvet seniors) Ray Petty had started
marching Garity. He threw a 10 yead pass straight down the
field and Rudy Wenzler spun around and jumped vertically to
cradle the ball in his stomach and was hit real hard in the
back just as the ball arrived. Rudy held on to the ball--it
was a great catch for a first down. I had to leave. Garity
went on to win.
Woodside had a really good football team
this year with Tommy Wall quarterbacking, Teddy Horishack
playing defensive line and offensive back plus a lot of
other guys. But Garity was also loaded
with Ray Petty, Freddy Paulus, Eddie Krause, Joe Artale,
Dennis O'toole, MIckie Ennis and a lot of others.
Championship game versus the Woodside
Chiefs.
I saw the entire championship game against woodside and it
was a great game with Freddy Paulus making an over the
middle legs outstreched catch that was just breathtaking to
see.
I will write more about what I remember about this game but
this was really someones elses season so I am sure we will
have a lot to add.
